Bluefruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, crooked trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, brown and grey bark, and inside, the soft wood is white.
The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with copious amounts of giant, circular leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are pale orange and bright green.
In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, lime blossoms with triangular petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a powerful scent that smells like mango.
In early summer it produces small, spherical fruit. The smooth hazel skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy sky blue flesh is salty and sticky. The bronze seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
