Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, wavy trunk covered in waxy, gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pine-coloured.

The thin clumps of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of small, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are copper with crimson tips.

In early spring, it produces dozens of tiny, crimson blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like faeces.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, pleated fruit. The fuzzy cyan skin is thick and bitter and savoury, and the soft magenta flesh is savoury and very juicy. The orange seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
