Aquamarine

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The finger-like stem is moss green, and is covered in large amounts of flexible aquamarine spines. The stocky leaves are silver and light purple. Very large amounts of them grow on stocky, emerald branches that trail down to the ground. The leaves are robust, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are black on the edges and violet at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. It has a weak scent that smells like rich perfume.

The leaf succulent's skin is rock-hard, the violet flesh is rubbery, and the cyan sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
The leaves are excellent for making pulp fibers.
