Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This giant shrub grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for around 27 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many sturdy, wavy stems covered in paper-thin, waxy, light brown bark, and the wood inside is white.

The branches are short stubs with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of small, stiff, pointed, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either light grey or copper, with crimson splotches, frail and waxy.

It produces thousands of small, lilac flowers with perforated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like chocolate. In late autumn it forms medium-sizedorange, winged seeds that float and land far away.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
