Burgundy Willow

This huge shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for around 12 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous stocky, straight stems covered in hard, silky, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy with dozens of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of giant, long, tapering, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid orange or drab red, with bronze lines, frail and crispy.

In early summer it produces dozens of small, yellow flowers with spear shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like fruity.
