Copper

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in fine, silky, dark green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black.

The small clumps of branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of large, cylindrical leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are generally silver.

In early spring, it produces a handful of large, copper blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like perfume.

In early summer it produces , needle-like fruit. The soft vivid blue skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is slightly bitter, and the crunchy olive flesh is salty and sticky. The light brown seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It can survive a long time without water.
