Bloodfire Agave

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 26 feet (7.9 meters) tall. The stiff, pointed stem is moss green, and is covered in dozens of rigid cream spines. The toothed-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are solid blood red with dark grey zig-zags. Small amounts of them grow from the base in tight-packed layers. The leaves are durable, but easily come away when pulled.

It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are brown in the center, olive in the middle and light brown at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 10 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a weak scent that smells like pineapple.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the silver flesh is rough, and the orange sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
