Burgundy Sage

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 90 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of branched, wonky stems covered in delicate, silky, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of huge, needle-like, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are muted yellow on the edges and lime at the center, rigid and smooth.

It produces dozens of large, grey flowers with perforated petals. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like musk. In early summer it forms medium-sizedbrown, tough-shelled seeds.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
