Aquamarine Willow

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This large shrub grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for around 30 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several sturdy, straight stems covered in paper-thin, silky, gray bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches are long and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of large, needle-like, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are olive and aquamarine, strong and waxy.

In early spring it produces thousands of tiny, aquamarine blossoms with 3 pointed petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like fresh linen.

In early autumn asymmetrical fruits ripen. The sticky white skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft slate flesh is salty and sticky. The yellow seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The sap is edible and extremely bitter.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
