Hazel
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This massive flower grows up to 9.1 feet (2.8 meters) tall. Its hazel and yellow-green stem is very thick and straight, and the small, brown leaves are needle-like with irregular edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.
A single small flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 24 cm (9.4 inches) wide, with alternating petals of yellow and blue, with a gentle purple central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 10 petals. They are hardy.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like candle wax, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
