Violet Petal

Flower type: Perennial (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. Its cream or violet stem is thin and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, green leaves are oval-shaped with irregular edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single tiny flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 49 cm (19.3 inches) wide, with solid pink petals decorated with indigo lines and a florescent yellow central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 43 petals. They detach easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like paint, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
