Copperfern

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 15 meters (49.2 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 313 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in hard, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is dark brown.

The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with very large amounts of soft, large, umbrella-shaped leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are olive at the bottom and turquoise with pale purple streaks at the top.

In early spring, it produces clusters of large, gold blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like a woman.

In late summer it forms giant, bronze, shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
