Copper?

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, wonky trunk covered in paper-thin, rough, dark green bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The small handful of branches are short stubs and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, very thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are brown on the sides and gold at the center.

In early spring, it produces many small, pastel red blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like mint.

In early winter it produces , oval fruit. The waxy yellow skin is delicate and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the very soft brown flesh is bitter and oily. The gold seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
