Copperberry

This giant fruit tree grows up to 49 feet (14.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, wonky trunk covered in silky, brown-green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale yellow.

The branches are long and thick and are covered with copious amounts of large, thin leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are blood red and copper.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, light brown blossoms with needle-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like perfume.

In mid-summer it produces , slender, 8 pointed fruit. The crispy gold skin is peel-able and overwhelmingly bitter, and the soft cyan flesh is bitter and oily. The silver seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
