Brown Moss

This brown moss is commonly found growing in large clumps On trees.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is extremely sturdy.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release millions of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
