Caramel

This huge shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for around 26 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of stocky, straight stems covered in delicate, wrinkled, brown-green bark, and the wood inside is white with black speckles.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, thin, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in caramel, silver and copper varieties, resilient and smooth.

In late summer it produces large amounts of medium-sized, intense red blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like mango.

In early autumn oblong fruits ripen. The smooth light yellow skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is sweet and savoury, and the slightly crunchy light yellow flesh is sweet and salty and very juicy. The grey seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
