Crimson Moss

This pink-red moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In moorlands.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is overwhelmingly rigid.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
