Blueberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy.

The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of miniature, finger-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are purple and peach.

In early spring, it produces bunches of large, lime blossoms with perforated petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like rotting meat.

In mid-summer it produces small, cross-shaped fruit. The sticky azure skin is thin and salty, and the soft bright blue flesh is bitter and sticky. The black seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
