Gray-Green

This small caudiciform grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is gray-green and gray, and is covered in thousands of fine, olive, hair-like spines. The stocky, deep yellow trunk can grow to as much as 5 feet (1.5 meters) in diameter. Its gray branches trail down across the ground.

The smooth-edged, perforated leaves are brilliant green with orange tips. They are tough, but detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 39 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with blue petals and an azure central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like pine needles.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the pink flesh is smooth, and the purple sap is thin.
