Indigo Creeper

Climbing plant type: Creeper (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 27 feet (8.2 meters) and growing as high as 874 feet (266.4 meters). It prefers to grow on man-made objects.

It takes 14 months for the pink-red stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and remain soft and fleshy.

The pleated, clammy leaves reach up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) in length. They are a shade of moss green that gradient shifts to indigo at the top, and have rounded edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces dozens of large grey flowers.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
