Magenta

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This large fruit tree grows up to 23 feet (7.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 67 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in thin, silky, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is copper-coloured.

The small handful of branches are very short and thin and are covered with small amounts of miniature, perforated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are generally grey.

In early spring, it produces balls of giant, magenta blossoms with long, narrow petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like lavender.

In early autumn it produces tiny, long, curved fruit. The rubbery crimson skin is peel-able and bland, and the very soft light grey flesh is sweet and bitter and powdery. The white seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
