Copper?

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in fine, silky, light brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is pine-coloured.

The small bunches of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of tiny, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either green or gold, with brilliant green dots.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, brilliant yellow blossoms with circular petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like lemon.

In mid-autumn it produces very large, triangular fruit. The waxy copper skin is thick and savoury, and the crunchy blue flesh is bitter and oily. The cream seeds are large and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
