Copper Spire Cactus
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This small cactus grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. It splits at the base to form 5 needle-like stems. Each stem is copper, and is dotted with small gold spines.
It is very slow growing, taking 40 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with lime petals and a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 51 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has no scent.
The cactus's skin is thin, the silver flesh is waxy, and the light grey sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
