Crimson Zigzag

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall. The very thin stem is silver, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible olive spines. The slender leaves are solid dark brown or brilliant green, with crimson zig-zags. Handfuls of them grow on very thick, green branches that trail down to the ground. The leaves are resistant, but take little effort to detach.

It is fast growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with alternating petals of cyan and faded orange, with an indigo central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 37 raised, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like perfume.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the caramel flesh is leathery, and the amber sap is thin.
