Copperfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 20 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, slanted trunk covered in knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, circular leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are yellow-green with bronze tips.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, brilliant green blossoms with circular petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like bleach.

In early autumn it produces , 4 pointed fruit. The rubbery dark brown skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the soft blue flesh is salty and oily. The blood red seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
