Crimson Pine

This large tree grows up to 64 meters (210.0 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 508 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, curved trunk covered in smooth, gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow-brown.

The small bunches of branches are short, rigid and upright, with dozens of twigs covered with thick bunches of giant, orange needles. The needles themselves are fairly frail.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, blood red, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
