Crimson Spine Caudex

This short caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The perforated stem is moss green, and is covered in large amounts of rigid crimson spines. The wavy, bright yellow trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its moss green branches trail down across the ground and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The small bunches of smooth-edged, sickle shaped leaves are crimson and bronze. They are sturdy, and detach easily.

It is very fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are red on the underside and cream on the top grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 26 petals. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like bleach.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the turquoise flesh is smooth, and the dark red sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
