Blackbell

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This colossal shrub grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for around 50 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous very thick, crooked stems covered in delicate, silky, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down to the ground that and are covered with large amounts of small, broad, flat, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are black and amber, strong and smooth.

In early spring it produces hundreds of medium-sized, white flowers with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like lavender.

It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
