Grass type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)This small, orange grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The 8 pointed stalks grow in small clumps that are resilient and they are slow to spread and grow.
When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a giant, blood red flower.
During the early summer, it produces lots of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with lots of tiny grains.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
