Mahogany
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 563 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in smooth, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy-brown.
The branches are very short and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of crispy, miniature, stiff, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are deep green and gold.
In late summer it forms small, cream seed pods.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for making paper
The sap is edible and overwhelmingly salty.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It has impressive regenerative properties.
