This bronze moss is commonly found blanketing giant areas In moorlands, In marshes, and On trees.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they are exceptionally hardy, and is slightly flimsy; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release thousands of spores.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It coexists peacefully with other plants.
