This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing large areas On trees.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is very resilient.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release hundred of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The grass is sour and extremely toxic and while grains are bitter and non-toxic.
