Silverleaf Willow

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 268 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a branched, crooked trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, silver and white bark, and inside, the light wood is burgundy-brown.

The abundance of branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of fuzzy, large, fan-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in green, faded yellow and purple varieties.

In late summer it forms large, aquamarine berries.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.

It coexists peacefully with other plants.
