Brown Moss

This brown moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In damp forests.
It is small, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is very sturdy.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release thousands of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
