Caramel

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The wispy stem is lime green, and is covered in handfuls of flexible gold spines. The straight, slate trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its pink-red branches trail down towards the ground and start growing halfway up the stem.

The copious amounts of smooth-edged, thick leaves are either blood red or caramel, with white patches. They are resilient, but do not detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid copper petals and a bright green central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 20 curved petals. It has an intense scent that smells like marzipan.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the brown flesh is rubbery, and the violet sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
