Clinging Pinefruit

This big fruit tree grows up to 34 feet (10.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in knobbly, dark green bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with small bunches of large, asymmetrical leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in bright green and black varieties.

In early spring, it produces several tiny, bold yellow blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have an intense scent that smells like an ocean breeze.

In late autumn it produces , long, straight fruit. The smooth silver skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy bold yellow flesh is spicy and dry. The light grey seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
