Blue Sky Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The narrow stem is lime or brown, and is covered in large amounts of flexible olive spines. The straight, caramel trunk can grow to as much as 3 feet (91.4 cm) in diameter at the top. Its bronze branches trail down towards the ground and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.

The small amounts of jagged-edged, stiff, pointed leaves are sky blue on the sides and dull orange at the center. They are flexible, and do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 19 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are bright red on the underside and ashy yellow on the top grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. It has a weak scent that smells like sugar.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the sky blue flesh is leathery, and the sky blue sap is thin.

It is suitable for making strong rope
