Bronzebell

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 97 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous slender, crooked stems covered in hard, smooth, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short stubs with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, wide, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are brown on the edges and bronze at the center, tough and waxy.

It produces several small, sky blue flowers with circular petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like perfume. In late winter it forms giantred, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.


It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
Several parts of the tree have medicinal properties.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
