Azureberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 22 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, silver bark, and inside, the dense wood is dark brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of miniature, finger-like leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid azure with orange zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, cyan blossoms with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like coffee.

In early summer it produces large, spiral-shaped fruit. The clammy copper skin is delicate and savoury, and the slightly crunchy faded purple flesh is bitter and syrupy. The cream seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
