Ashy Blueberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This large fruit tree grows up to 27 feet (8.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in silky, gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The small bunches of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of small, slender, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are ashy blue on the edges and pink at the center.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, green blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like something putrid.

In early winter it produces , 9 pointed fruit. The waxy ashy blue skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the very soft purple flesh is sweet and oily. The red seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
