Blueberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 78 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in thick, cracked, brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is pale yellow.

The numerous branches are long and thick and are covered with thick bunches of large, perforated leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in olive and gold varieties.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, black blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like misty mornings.

In late summer it produces , spherical fruit. The soft blue skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy muted orange flesh is sweet and salty and powdery. The gentle orange seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It comes in 80 varieties.
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
