Blueberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, waxy, dark brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is white.

The sparse amount of branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of small, fan-like leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of moss green that gradient shifts to caramel at the top.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of large, orange blossoms with 8 pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like rotten egg.

In late autumn it produces tiny, long, straight fruit. The hairy subtle blue skin is delicate and edible when cooked; it is bitter, and the crunchy magenta flesh is sweet and syrupy. The cream seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is extremely resistant to fire damage.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
