Bloodleaf Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 44 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, wavy trunk covered in delicate, cracked, black bark, and inside, the very light wood is brown.

The tangled mess of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of small, circular leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are blood red and silver.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of medium-sized, magenta blossoms with perforated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like coconut.

In mid-summer it produces , long, curved fruit. The smooth cream skin is thick and inedible, and the slightly crunchy amber flesh is sour and very dry. The florescent green seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It is suitable for making paper
