This brown moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In rainforests, and In damp forests.
It is average-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is overwhelmingly resistant.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release hundred of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.

The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
