Amberberry

This colossal shrub grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for around 38 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of flexible, straight stems covered in waxy, dark green bark, and the wood inside is white with black speckles.

The branches are short and thick with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, spear shaped, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid white or amber, with blue splotches, robust and soft.

In mid-spring it produces hundreds of tiny, gold blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like grass cuttings.

In early winter small spherical fruits ripen. The clammy pink skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is overwhelmingly savoury, and the soft violet flesh is slightly sour and sticky. The grey seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
