Copperwood

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 29 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many long and flexible, wonky stems covered in hard, wrinkled, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, asymmetrical, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid amber with indigo lines, rigid and crispy.

In mid-summer it produces thousands of giant, cream flowers with broad, flat petals. They detach easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like an ocean breeze.
