Copper

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in silky, light gray bark, and inside, the light wood is light brown.

The thin clumps of branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either copper or sky blue, with blue streaks.

In early spring, it produces several large, gentle red blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like pepper.

In early summer it produces tiny, perforated fruit. The soft white skin is thin and edible when roasted; it is sweet and sour, and the very soft cream flesh is sour and powdery. The blood red seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
