Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 114 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of stocky, straight stems covered in paper-thin, smooth, brown bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are very short and thick with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of huge, long, narrow, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are faded red at the bottom and copper with black lines at the top, light and crispy.

It produces thousands of giant, bold purple flowers with broad, flat petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like new carpet. In late spring it forms largegreen, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
