Bronzeberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This large fruit tree grows up to 27 feet (8.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 32 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, angular trunk covered in paper-thin, rough, yellow bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of miniature, finger-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid black or aquamarine, with blue streaks.

In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, bronze blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like a woman.

In mid-autumn it produces small, long, curved fruit. The leathery bold purple skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy green flesh is spicy and savoury and very juicy. The lime seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
