Copperberry

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 52 feet (15.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 17 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, crooked trunk covered in cracked, burgundy bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black with white speckles.

The thin clumps of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of miniature, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of copper that gradient shifts to brilliant blue at the top.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, beige blossoms with spear shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like leather.

In early autumn it produces tiny, 6 pointed fruit. The clammy intense purple skin is stretchy and salty and sour, and the very soft cyan flesh is sour and sticky. The gold seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
